This section describes the following cluster-management tasks:
A Data ONTAP 10.0 cluster begins with a single node; you can then join additional nodes to the cluster. To create a single-node cluster, use the cluster create command. To create a cluster, you need a base cluster license; obtain this from your sales or support representative.
The command prompts you for confirmation before running.
After you create a cluster, you can add other nodes to it as described in “Adding a Node to an Existing Cluster”.
The following example creates a cluster named Clus1. The cluster has the base license ABCDEFG. The first cluster port has the IP address 172.19.2.1, the netmask 255.255.255.0, and the MTU value 9000. The second cluster port has the IP address 172.19.2.2 and the same netmask, and MTU value as the first cluster port.
node::>cluster create -license ABCDEFG -clustername Clus1 -ipaddr1 172.19.2.1 -netmask1 255.255.255.0 -mtu1 9000 -ipaddr2 172.19.2.1 -netmask2 255.255.255.0 -mtu2 9000
